Introduction by Sue Blazye
This disc has been produced for people like myself, with a passion for novelty teapots. My aim is to help others who need a bit of "knowledge' to name a novelty pot. When I first started to collect teapots, I found it nigh on impossible to identify teapots without a manufacturer's mark on their base. The only way of doing it was to pester other collectors to give me some advice. Many years have passed since then and many exciting things have happened to me as I have been 'trailing' teapots. I have many teapot tales that I can tell. It is always worrying that you might miss a bargain, or pay over the odds for something. In this catalogue I have tried to give a rough guide to the value of the many pots. It is always difficult to do this and what I have put is NOT meant as an exact guide. I have based my prices on the market value as I have found it as I have been collecting my pots. If a pot is damaged it will halve the value of it, but you need to consider the rarety of the teapot. Is it better to have a damaged one, or never have that pot at all? You can always sell or swap it later if you find a perfect example. The factors that most often affect the cost of a novelty teapot are: 1. The size of the edition. 2. The age of the teapot. 3. Manufacturers / Collectors' Clubs. 4. Dual themes - e.g. Disney, Harmony Kingdom, Golly etc collected generally, not just by teapot collectors. 5. Manufacturers ceasing to trade.
Price Band Guides:
The information contained on this reference is correct to the best of my knowledge. If you have additional information that will be of help it would be much appreciated for the second edition. I will also be very pleased to include a picture of any different teapots which you possess. Acknowledgement of the source of the teapot will, of course, be included.
